Hello,

As the title suggests, would my Motherboard built in soundboard create static in my mic? I've tried to look at other answers but when trying the solutions like decreasing mic boost ect... it doesn't work. Also would I be better off getting a different sound card separately which could reduce the static? My motherboard is: ASUS® A58M-E FM2+ (M-ATX, DDR3, USB 2.0, 3Gb/s), Soundcard is: ONBOARD 8 CHANNEL (7.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD) & my mic is a Steelseries Siberia v3 headset. Please leave any suggestions as I'm willing to spend some money to fix this problem.

Thanks
-Nick

Solution
I believe the static is being caused by the Microphone and or its wires.

Purchase a very cheap, the cheapest you can find, microphone. Usually the nubs designed for laptops are really cheap. I'd bet it sounds 10x better than the mic in your headset.
