My Windows Updates are turned off, even in the services.msc it is set to 'manual', but every few hours the wuauserv starts up and takes up about 15% of my CPU. When I press restart on the service the CPU activity goes back to normal levels and after a few minutes the service itself stops.
Is there any other software that uses the wuauserv to check for updates? as I said Windows Updates are off. Would it do something bad to select 'disabled'?
