First time booting Desktop

What's going on guys so I have a question about my gaming desktop that I just built today and I'm trying to get the desktop to boot into the bios using an hdmi cord because i dont have a dvi cord and it's not booting into the bios I also tried using the hdmi cord on the Motherboard and GPU still nothing....much help is appreciated thanks guys.

Are ALL the power connections properly hooked up?
Are the fans spinning showing power is moving through the board?
If you take out the GPU can you get the BIOS with only the motherboard connected?

Also tell us what your hardware is.

The ram was loose and i had to take it out and re install it and then to find out my 8pin pcie cord was loose on my gpu so I added just a little more extra force and then presto it booted just fine to Windows.7
