What graphics card should I buy for my acer aspire T-180?

Win 10
3.10 ghz Brisbane
8GB RAM
160 SSD
800 W PSU

Currently running a GT 8800 geforce at 70 ° and it's choking in there!

The best gxf card for that price would be the GT 730 64 bit DDR5. But your 8800 GT is nearly as fast as that. You'd gain more VRAM is all.

Your aging AM2 platform is really holding you back. Almost any card you get that will be faster than the 8800 GT will be bottle-necked by your old Athlon 64 X2 6000+ dual core. And there really isn't any CPU you can replace it with that will make much of a difference. I suppose you could throw good money after bad and go for something like a GTX 1050 Ti or GTX 1060 3GB and see what that will provide on games that aren't terribly CPU demanding.

I think you all have very good and honest points. My AM2 is AMncient' and is also cropping up high temps. I think I've done all I can save the graphics card.

I want a gaming laptop but I'll save the for another thread!
