Hello,

I bought a Macbook pro (Late 2011) a few weeks ago (second hand). So far I've replaced the hard drive with an SSD. All has been well so far, but I've recently noticed a buzzing sound. It's fairly high pitched and pretty faint, it sounds like an electrical buzz. The sound seems to be coming from the left side, as when I put my ear against all the ports located on the left, the sound seems to be amplified. Does anyone seem to know where the source of this sound is coming from? My best bet would be the fan, but surely the fan wouldn't make a electrical buzzing sound?

My computer has recently started doing this too, last time it did this it was a similar sound but when I opened it it was definitely the fan, time before was the hard drive. This time it comes from near the charge port and is consistent and louder when only powered by the adaptor. I'm not up to date on my circuits but this would make sense if it is using AC current which the charger supplies and the components are aging? My main concern is, is this a fire hazard?
