Hi, this is a very good one :)

So, in the past i bought a memory kit from GSKILL, Gskill kit 2x4Gb dd3 1600 (F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM) and they work fine on a Asus Maximus Extreme 775 board. I also was able to set it to 1600, no problem.

Yesterday i bought another kit iqual to the first one (F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM) to install on another diferent Maximus Extreme 775 from a friend of mine.

Here is the problem, the first kit works fine in both boards, the 2º kit bought yesterday does not work period (both boards). It does not boot or beep, just lighs onboard nothing more.

So same memory, same boards .. what´s the problem here?

Note: If possible need some GSKILL Expert Technician opinion and help. Others are very welcome too.

Tried everything, Clear CMOS several times, 1 memory at a time, merge both kits, etc, etc.
Nothing seams to help and i don´t want to believe the 2º kit is bad because its brand new with virgin contacts or that GSKill change "memory standards" for this kit in a recent lot assembled in a more recent year.

First kit date Out. 2014 (GE), second kit date Dec. 2015 (GF)

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP :(

Solution
It's not a bad kit, the newer modules (all current production) are single sided chips and will not work well for LGA 755 motherboards. You may need to look on third party websites for older revisions for sale.
Sorry friend, but if it doesn't work in known good boards, even in single stick attempts, even in different slots single stick, it's a DOA kit. There's no voodoo or anything that can make a bad stick good. When you put new RAM into a motherboard it should default to lowest settings so you can get into the bios and make changed, if you can't get into bios, there's no way to fix the settings. And even though the RAM are the same part number, the silicon might have changed between the two, it happens pretty frequently, even though you don't want to believe it. Secondary timings and such may change in the XMP slightly, and while they're the same exact primary timings, the newer set may be tighter or looser depending on how the RAM chips behave/the process gets better/more efficient/revisions. The new kit should work single stick single slot though, if not, pooched.

Thank´s for your fast answer.

The new kit doesn´t work single stick single slot, wont boot anyway ..

I think you right, memory kit is DOA or defective.

My concern is:

Is it possible this same F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM new kits (from 2015 or later) doesn´t work anymore with this board or if i get a new one it will boot for sure?

Thank you jossrik.

Note: (Waiting for a GSKILL technician opinion if possible).

A new set should work, definitely. You just happened to get a bad one. DDR3 is DDR3, speeds change, but like I said, the motherboard should at least allow you into the bios. The only time you can run into trouble is either mixing RAM kits or sticks from different kits (should still POST though), and trying to run memory too fast(not all motherboards support all RAM speeds)

In the mid time if someone want to tell something more, be my guest.

Oh man are you serious? .. what a bad idea from GSkill. My worst nightmare became true!

This is not fair!!
(At this moment "i hate GSKILL", and i think i will never buy from them again in my live).

Lost hours because of this .. i will lost more and probably my dealer will not return my money easily.. just great!!

Sadly i believe what gskill technician just said, so i will mark this as SOLVED near soon (after gskill answer).

If someone has another opinion, please be my guest.

Question to Gskill: Do you know the last date prodution for last gskill F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM double sided chips?

Technology improves and older platforms don't get updated so these things can happen. Unfortunately RAM is not a mass produced item so the same model can change over time. It is not something we chose to do, nor is it a G.Skill exclusive issue, it is based on global supply and production is based on new chips available. We do not refurbish used returned RAM.

F3-1600C11D-8GNT is the best double sided memory kit available.

If you still have the memory kits, you can check to see if that is the case by looking under the heat spreaders. Both sides should look the same. If not, it is single sided.

I will check, but it should be near end 2013.

ROTFL

LOL, nice political retoric answer. I call it CAPITALISM, but is just a thought ..

My F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM working kit (double sided) is from Out. 2014 (GE). Not working F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM kit (single sided) is from Dec. 2015 (GF).

Nice job gskill .. :pfff:

Do you know if F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM kit (single sided) also stop working for ASRock G41C-GS? (urgent, need to know this). Not sure if this board can handle single sided memory kits. I know it can handle F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM kit (double sided) for sure.

Can you point me to the right places where to buy the double sided version of F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM ?

Call it what you want, I tell it how it is.

Like I said, I'm not sure about the exact dates as different kits stopped having double sided chips at different times.

Compatibility ends for all G41 and older chip sets. This type of RAM did not exist when the motherboards were produced so unless the motherboard manufacturer chooses to provide a BIOS update a decade later, single sided 4GB modules will not work.

To find double sided kits you will need to search forums, ebay, amazon, etc. for used or old stock.

Almost all 4GB memory modules produced in the past 2-3 years is single sided

First, thank you for trying to help.

You dress Gskill t-shirt an thats very suite, i like it, its love lol

In our days "its very hard" for a real brand to change a P/N: to avoid confusions ...

Almost all 4GB memory modules produced in the past 2-3 years is single sided

True, thats why this gskill kits were so "special" .. not anymore.

..And because of this change we will be for sure Homo Sapiens Sapiens Sapiens ;)

Thank's for solving this "mystery".
