A buddy of mine is interested in upgrading to a ssd in his HP 15-f271wm laptop. I'm trying to find the correct hard drive size (7mm or 9mm), but I can't find it anywhere. Can anyone point me in the right directions?

page 18 gives spare part number 441424-001, searching that part number gets a 9.5 MM drive.
you friends system can handle a 9.5mm high drive or shorter. assume that 9.5mm would be the maximum available height. smaller drives 7mm ssd for instance will fit as they should come with a spacer.
if no spacer comes with the drive I have had good results making a spacer out of folded paper

You know you don't have to match them. Curious because I have only installed SSD on desktops where thickness don't matter... I went into Newegg and looked at few SSD and they all under 7mm. More "air" doesn't hurt it.
