Should I uninstall Video drivers before uninstalling my 770 or after installing a 1070?

Getting a 1070 soon from an old 770 should I uninstall with the 770 still in my PC or do the uninstall of the video drivers afterwards? ALSO which Video driver uninstaller should I use ? DDU? , Win 10 uninstall drivers option? Which is the safest and easiest way to uninstall the drivers?

Hello... They are Both NVidia products... I would just try and plug the new card in and see how Windows responds to it. B / Typically I use the control panel-programs and features to un-install the Nvidia APPs from the OS.

The easy way.
1. Download the newest drivers for the 1070 before you uninstall anything.
2. Uninstall the nVidia drivers via the "Uninstall or change a program" part of control panel.
3. Turn off your computer and swap the cards.
4. Turn that beast back on.
5. Install the driver you downloaded in step 1.
5a. Make sure to choose the custom option
5b. Check the "clean install" check box when you're stepping through the install.
6. Reboot.
7. Hopefully your computer does not set itself on fire.

If for some reason that process doesn't go as expected, then go for the DDU route and reinstall the drivers from step 1.

"Clean install" wipes out everything and reinstalls the items you select. I always leave out the 3d stuff and HDMI audio when installing new drivers since I don't use those. Otherwise that procedure is the exact one I use.

I always uninstall all the extra stuff because I don't trust computers and know they're out to get me. But doing a "clean install" should wipe everything correctly so I'd try that first.

I juz wacked in meh new 1070 from old 970 gtx went to NVidia site got latest drivers and installed over the top with clean install option , no worries.
