Recommend me a cheap CPU fan cooler please

Got a 2500K on stock fan years ago without bothering to over-clock. I am waiting for next gen CPU from Intel cpu and Nvidia card before i upgrade my pc. i thought heck why not try to play around with OC abit. I dont really care about the look.

So can anyone recommend me a cheap CPU? This is a old CPU so i don't want to invest much in it fan and I know coolermaster Hyper 212 is great choice but its quite expensive in UK(£30) and i looking around on Amazon

which one is the best? any other recommendation? my case is fractal design define R5

btw if i overclock, does it use more power 24/7 or only when its needed like gaming? i mean if i OC and only browsing internet, will it use more power?

I don't think you can really go wrong with a freezer 7. I use one on a AMD FX set up, and it does the job nicely. Could OC on it too, but your thermal limit would be much lower than a 212.

I would definitely save for a Hyper 212 though, even if it means holding off a month. It out performs most AIO Watercooling set ups and will enable you to get a really sizeable overclock. (Also keep in mind that you can use the heatsink on future upgrades, therefore is worth the investment IMO)

I do not recommend any aftermarket cooler using a 92mm fan. It will be noisy and not that effective.
Spend a bit more for a Cryorig H7,cm hyper212, or any other cooler with a 120mm fan.
Such a cooler will transport to a new build.

When overclocking, implement speedstep(C1e?) which will reduce the multiplier and lower voltage when the cpu is not under load.

In the mean time, check that your cooler is mounted well.
You should see 10-15c. over ambient.
And... any cooler needs airflow to work.
Check that you have sufficient intake

Make sense but 120mm all seems to be above £30, any cheap recommendation?

was able to get DEEPCOOL Lucifer V2 cheaper than 212 evo but my case say max is 165mm while this is 168mm, shame
