Hello, today I've bought 2 sticks of RAM Klevv Neo Creative Evolution (2x4GB) with an advertised speed of 1866 MHz, Dual Channel.

So I removed my old one (4GB @ 1333Mhz) and placed the new ram, started up the PC and went to look in CPU-Z and the task manager, the result got me confused so I decide to ask here.

In the task manager, it shows that it's running at 1066 MHz and in CPU-Z it shows 535 MHz.

My PC specifications:

ASRock N68-GS4 FX Motherboard
AMD Athlon II X2 270 @ 3.4 Ghz
8GB RAM Klevv Neo Creative Evolution @ 1866 Mhz
NVIDIA GeForce GT 730 1GB GDDR5

So, is there any way to make it run at its advertised speed? Could it be my CPU causing it?
That's what I saw on ASRock's website: "Note4: Due to CPU spec, AMD 100 and 200 series CPUs support up to DDR3 1066 MHz. With ASRock design, this motherboard can support DDR3 1333 MHz."

Thank you.

Solution
Your CPU cannot support memory running at 1866MHz.

I've seen some benchmarks of the Athlon II X2 270 managing 1333, but as mentioned by the ASRock website the default support is going to be hovering closer to 1066MHz. The CPU-Z 535MHz is confusing because you have to multiply it by 2 to get your actual speed (remember DDR is DOUBLE data rate, and CPU-Z shows you single).

Summary: 1066Mhz is what you should be expecting from that CPU. If you want faster RAM speeds you'll need to upgrade your processor.

Thank you both, I'll surely order a new CPU in the next few weeks, would AMD FX-4300 X4 @ 3.8GHz do the job?
Anyway, now I'm wondering, since I saw in the BIOS that I can set the frequency up to 1600Mhz manually (currently set on auto), would it cause any damage to the CPU or anything else if I do so, or should I just keep it on auto-1066MHz?

Alright, thank you, I'll give it a try with 1333 MHz and see if it causes BSOD, if yes, I'll just set it back to 1066 MHz till I get the FX-4300 as it says it does support up to 1866 MHz.
