The best CPU you can could get for that build is probably an AMD 6300 or the low powered 8 core models (8320e 8370e. I'm not sure which CPU you have right now, but it probably wouldn't be worth upgrading.

AMD currently does not have anything that compares with an i5 4th generation +. Even overclocked at 4.8Ghz, they struggle to keep up.

AMD is releasing their new "Zen" lineup very early next year. If you like AMD, you could wait for that. It's supposed to be comparable to the new Intel lineup in regards to strength per core.
The CPU keeps track of where everything is in the game (where players are, shots fired, all that stuff) and your GPU makes all the pretty pictures. The GTX 960 isn't that powerful of a card but based on that mobo you're probably on a weak cpu. Just get an i3 6100 or an i5 6500 and a b150 motherboard, can't go wrong with intel right now unless you overspend.

If you get a new motherboard it would be a good idea to do a fresh install of Windows regardless of whether you go AMD or not because you will need all new drivers, plus it's always a good idea to clear your registry every once in a while to keep your PC from getting slow.
