Hi all! About 3 weeks ago I built a brand new PC. I mostly play CSGO, but from the on set, despite having a solid PC, my fps hasnt been as good as it should be. I know its completely playable but why isnt my fps as good as people claim my specs can handle? It ranges between 220-280, hovering mainly around 240-260 sometimes it even drops to 160. I play on 1024x768, everything on low. Nvidia settings is also adjusted to best fps performance (updated to latest version 375). I also use MSI mode but there seems to be no difference to the fps. Ive tried almost everything. It can't be a heat issue as my cpu and gpu temps stay well below 60 degrees celcius while playing. At this point Im starting to think its a hardware issue?

P.S Im using a mini itx case and motherboard

PC Specs:
CPU: i5-6600k
GPU: Zotac GTX-1070 mini
Motherboard: MSI B150i Gaming Pro AC
RAM: ddr4 kingston (16gb)
SSD: Samsung 750 evo (500gb)
PS: CoolerMaster 650m (650 Watts)

Yeah, that's bizarre. What's your usage while playing? Unless the CPU/GPU is somehow downclocked while playing, it makes no sense. Maybe if you were getting 80-120 fps it would point to some obvious big problem, but 220-280 makes it look like there's something only a little off.

Come to think of it though, I did see someone here with a somewhat similar problem with an AMD platform, but in his case he had his RAM set up incorrectly and wasn't in dual channel mode, which effectively capped his fps.

I have fps_max 500. I have reinstalled the nvidia graphics driver and used DDU to clean up. There has not been any improvements in performance. However, I tried playing at 1080p, there seems to be little to no difference in performance. I still get similar fps as to what ill get when playing at 1024x768. Weird?

cpu usage while in game is around 80%, sometimes even goes up to 95% on a few cores

Few questions? What are the CPU and GPU temps while playing? Why k series processor with a b150 board? Are you certain you're plugged into the GPU not the onboard with your (99% sure you are as you get too many fps to be doing onboard). Use something MSI afterburner to monitor both CPU speed and GPU memory/clock speed while gaming as well and report back

I use the b150 as its a mini itx board that fits my case

cpu temps around 55-57 degrees celcius
cpu speed is +-3700 mhz
cpu usage at 80-95%

gpu temps stay at 47 degrees celcius (even at idle its 46)
gpu speed 1515mhz
gpu usage 14%

This usually means your CPU is doing all it can, and your GPU isn't breaking a sweat yet. But your CPU should be more than capable of pushing higher framerates, or at the very least much higher minimum framerates. Do you have anything else running in the background that could be eating up processor cycles? Are you streaming/recording your games?

Try setting all your graphics settings to max except resolution. Any low graphics settings will force that work on the CPU.
