I already know that i need to set my optical drive as my 1st boot up priority before installling my windows os disc installer. I also have an ssd and hdd for drives and wishes to install my os to the ssd. So my real question is: A. Do i install the os with both the ssd and hdd connected to the motherboard or only the ssd first then connect the hdd after the os install? B. Is there no need for me to change the setting for my ssd and use the default setting my motherboard has it already set for the ssd or am i gonna choose between ahci, raid or ide to obtain the ssd's full capacity? If so, what is best for me (ahci, raid 1 or 0 or 10, or ide)?

10. The difference between 7, 8.1 and 10 in gaming is very small but only 10 has DirectX 12. So if you want to play the newest titles in DX 12 mode Windows 10 is the only choice.

Set the SATA ports to AHCI mode, unplug any extra drives you have except the SSD and optical drives and then install Windows. After installation you can plug your extra drive or drives back in but only the drive you are installing Windows on should be plugged in during installation.

Thanks for the quick reply. I might try to do what u just said. Another follow up question is...i've read in other post about data controller is that when you set to AHCI, there will be a controller driver needed to activate ACHI in windows 7 or vista. Im kinda confused about that. So what is a sata controller driver?

You shouldn't need to install an AHCI driver with Windows 7 and newer. You shouldn't be installing Vista at all. Terrible OS that hasn't gotten better with age.

You're right. I read posts that only windows vista or higher has drives natively available on the installer disc so i wont have to download additional drives for the ahci mode> And yeah there's no way im using vista. Im installing windows 10.
