I have a HP -15 Laptop that always locks up during windows 7 start up. . The Screen locks up and a ring of "hazy"color circles the windows 7 logo. I tried a new hard drive and same thing happens? Since the new hard drive didn't fix it then that should be an excellent clue but I haven't the knowledge in troubleshooting. Any help will be appreciated. I realize that I.m working on a outdated Lap top but I want to learn how to repair.Dennis

Thanks again for your help. I'm confident this no "booting up issue" will be fixed.
I downloaded the HP-15 manual and did ever test I could. I'm not sure if I updated the Bios .All test passed.
I get a message now at the top of the screen. "please load a OS system").
I thought Windows 7, would boot on its own? When I load the Windows 7 disc a reply comes back that says windows did not load. I don't know what to do next? Can you help me? There is currently a new hard drive installed but can't get the disc to work it does spin but shuts down after a minute or two. Repair options don't work
