I'm thinking for a while at a GPU upgrade. I play world of warcraft and my current GPU seems to be handling well only at a setting of 5/10 in the graphics dept. Current GPU is an AMD Radeon 6850 HD. Current motherboard is GA-Z68P-DS3, and CPU is i7 Sandybridge. A friend is selling his new R9 290 OC for a decent price (@200 euros, which is 30% less than what I see in shops here), but I'm wondering if my motherboard will support it.
Thank you!

Edit: seems I found the answer: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1869624/gigabyte-z68p-ds3-290.html , so yes.

Was actually getting a bit sadface because I can't even find most of the stuff in that list but the one you linked I can actually get for a decent price here. Will it be ok at only 620 W if the GPU is overclocked? I'm not myself into overclocking stuff, but the friend selling the GPU did it.

Great, thank you very much for all answers. I'll just need to do some measuring in my case to see if it fits (seems it will have to go @2 cm in the hdd side of the computer, but I only have 1 hdd and 1 ssd so that part is empty mostly, and then it's settled.
Many thanks and the topic can be set to solved!
Have a great day!

I don't know if I should make a new topic about it.
I found the time to install the new gpu&power supply today (work has been a bitch lately). All well and good but in games it started making a continuous beep. I turned off the game thinking to turn off pc, but it stopped - so I google the issue, and somebody had suggested turning on vertical sync. When I did that, the beeping stopped, but I'd like to understand better why is it happening and if it's dangerous for the pc.
Noting that while the gpu fit fine in my case (easier than I thought), the fact that it's bulky and the many cables from the new power source make space a bit cramped inside and I'm worrying about overheating. The guy at the shop that put them in said air circulation in that case isn't great. What should I look for in a new case? I'm interested in functionality, I don't need it to look pretty.
