Ok, I had a client who needed to have her Toshiba Satelitte L305 laptop backed up to run XP from the original Vista install. I got XP installed on the computer, and, as I expected, most of the things that need drivers don't work. I really need to get the wireless or the ethernet installed.

I have been out to Toshiba support, and when I input the model number, XP (32 which is what I installed) is on the list. But no drivers for either network adapter show up on the list. I have punched in Vista as my OS and all the drivers show up. I've tried them, thinking that they might work...but alas, no they don't.

I know which wireless adapter it is (Atheros 5001x) and have found, supposedly, the most current drivers for XP for it (and it says it will work in XP, Vista and 7) but I'm getting the yellow ! in the device manager.

I know I must be missing something simple, but can't figure out what. OH, I'm having the same problem with the ethernet adapter and VGA adapter as well.

SUCCESS! Apparently that model is close enough as it worked! Thanks for getting me to try a different sub-model. I probably would not have tried that if you hadn't suggested it. Oh the model of the wireless adapter that worked was an AR5007 not the 5006 that the OS thought it was.
