I just built my new pc and the ethernet is plugged in there's green light but it doesn't connect to internet

Motherboard: ASUS z170-a

Things I've tried:
Disabled onboard boot network

I've updated the Most recent BIOS

I've tried installing drivers by USB but it says I don't have any intel(r) adapters present in the computer

The motherboard did not come with a cd and I don't event have a cd drive which is why I used a USB for everything

What do I do :(

Solution
It was the USB and It finally got it fixed. I decided to only have the WIN64bit file in the USB and safely eject and to put it in the new computer and the file wasn't corrupt and im currently sending this through the new pc.

Thank you both so much for the help!

what operating system are you using?

Edit: Do you have a switch/router and another computer? Does LAN work? Can you see the other computer on the WORKGROUP network of windows?

If the adapter lights up that means the integrated lan is getting power

Have you checked your ISP?

Have you tried putting your pc near the router and plug it in directly into the router instead of a jack in the wall?

If that doesn't work can you move your pc and plug it directly into the modem that your ISP provided?

Possible issues
-You downloaded the wrong driver because you are wrong about the model of your motherboard
-You did not go through "connect to the internet setup"
-You disabled the Intel adapter in the BIOS
-Your NIC is broken.

To be honest, Windows 8.1 should have installed the driver automatically. There is no need to install it on your own. This leads me to believe it's a setup issue, or dead/dying card.

I would also do a full power down cycle and CMOS reset (Remove all plugs from P.C, remove motherboard battery for 10 minutes. Try again.

A network card is 10$ at a computer store. If all else fails, go pickup one and be on your way. Don't waste too much time on an onboard NIC. They die all the time.

Did you retry with the file I gave you in case the original driver was the wrong one? Or is it possible your motherboard isn't the Z170-A but the Z170 gaming?

Follow the instructions Themasterr gave if you tried the new file. The NIC might be disabled in the BIOS.

Okay, try that new file when you can. If it still doesn't work, ASUS may be supplying a wrong driver... Try this one then:

Do you have a cellphone? Download the drivers through your cellphone and transfer them to the P.C

Hello, did you try either the 32-bit file or the 64-bit file?
If your windows is 32-bit, then download the PROWin32.exe file.
If it is 64-bit, download the PROWinx64.exe file.
You can always download the two to be sure.

If you're getting a corrupt file issue, be sure you correctly removed your USB flash drive. You need to copy the files, then click unmount/eject in windows before removing it. Failure to do so will result in a corrupted file.

Try using a phone to transfer the file if you have one. Sounds like your USB drive has issues.

Glad we could help.[strike] Please tell us if the LAN drivers correctly install afterwards.[/strike] ^^

edit: Oh, didn't read that "through the new pc" correctly. Glad to hear. Have a great time with your new PC!
