I went to put in an SSD but then realised I didn't have a sata cable for it. But then I went to turn on my pc but seen that the power, LED and reset lead disconnected from my motherboard.

So after I put that back in everything turned on and seemed fine but there was no display. Now I tried everything woth the cmos reset and taking out all the ram and putting one in each slot one by onemail.

I seems like there isn't enough power going to the comments because when I put in the keyboard and mouse the mouse lights up on lyrics when pressed. Also the cpu fan should start up fast and a lot louder then it does, it seems very quite.
Any ideas what the problem is? Couldn't be the psu could it? Psu has been the newest piece of hardware to my pc.

I've tested the graphics card and it workes fine.

Thanks in advance guys

At this point, I'd start from zero if I were you. Remove or unplug everything save the motherboard, cpu and ram. Then connect a single ram on an unused slot, then try booting. If there's no boot, then try seating it on a another slot. Repeat using another card if there's no boot still.

It is hard to know what is your issue up to now. There's always a possibility you PSU is defective, and simply unplugging it long enough allowed it to break. But try every other option before buying another.

Thanks for the reply but unfortunately didn't work :( could it possibly be the cmos battery? As there doesn't seem to be much power going to all the pc components like the cpu fan isn't starting of fast and the power put use to light up but now it doesn't light up at all

Hello.

I would check if you did not incorrectly plug the power/reset switches. If your switches are inverted or in the wrong pins, the pc might be in a constant reboot.
Check as well if no pins are bent or shorted out near the CMOS reset pins. If the BIOS is being cleared constantly, it will never boot.

Can you give us your motherboard model?

Hey there thanks very much for getting in touch with me

I had a look at the switches there and they all seem to be fine and in the right place and pins for the switches are perfect aswell. I took all the switches apart again but still no luck :( the cmos pins seem to be perfect too. It's a weird cmos resethe system as the there are two pins beside the cmosame battery instead of 3 like most motherboards with 3pins and a jumper, this motherboard came with no jumper.

My pc specs are as follow:
Msi Z97A gaming 6 motherboard.
Intel i7 4790k cpu.
Corsair rm850i psu
Corsair vengeance 8Gb of RAM (4 sticks total)
Navidia gtx 760 gpu.

Thanks again

Did you clear the cmos by jumping those two pins together yet?

The manual says this must be done with the computer powered off. Just use a jumper or a small screwdriver (very carefully) to short these two pins together for a few seconds. Then remove the jumper or your scredriver, and restart the pc.

DO NOT reset the CMOS when the PC is powered on, as the manual clearly states this might break the motherboard.

Yeah when I was looking to reset it is couldn't find the jumper so I researched it and found this page

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/831121/Msi-Z97-Gaming-5.html?page=41#manual

So I held it down for a second or two while the pc was off and a blue led appeared until I took the jumper off then restarted my pc. Thanks for the help though I really appreciate it

Edit: I got the jumper off an old motherboard laying around
