The asus blurb on the mobo says 'Z97-PRO GAMER includes an M.2 socket with two native PCI Express 2.0 lanes'. So you need to dig into the fine print here - is that going to clip the number of pcie lanes available for your gtx980. (consider e.g. info at https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GTX_980_PCI-Express_Scaling/ ). Your board offers 2 x PCIe 3.0 X16, slots, but if you put the samsung pm951 in the m2 slot, is that going to knock your graphics card down to at best a PCIe 3.0 X8 slot? I'm not sure for this board, but I know for some other boards offering an 'ultra m2 slot' it works that way. I would recommend sorting this out before you buy. Since the m2 slot in this board only uses PCIE 2.0 lanes I'm guessing it probably doesn't reduce the number of PCIE 3.0 lanes available to the graphics card, but it would be prudent to confirm that if it matters to you.
