Hey guys.
So last summer I built my first pc. My motherboard has 4 ram slots and supports dual channel memory. I installed 2x4gb kingston hyperx fury 2133mhz ram(DDR4) leaving 2 slots empty. Now I want to upgrade to 16gb.
The question is, if I get another pair of 2x4gb kingston hyperx fury 2133mhz and install it on the 2 empty slots will I be good to go or is it not that simple?
I know the question may sound stupid but I want to make sure everything runs smoothly since I'm a newbie.
Have a nice day.

Yup, easy enough. You can double check it though by checking the BIOS.

Hello!

In this case it would be best to take out your old pair and stick in the new RAM when you get it, otherwise you may have random BSOD's and nasty stuff happening, just simply take the old kit and put the new kit in. Simple stuff :)

I hope this helps :)

But if I take out the old ram and put the new one I will still have 8 gb of memory I want to upgrade to 16gb

I wouldn't remove the old kit since you have the room. Just buy the new kit (matching 2x4gb kit) and install it. From there if you do encounter any BSOD or the system isn't starting then you'll need to take one stick out at a time to determine if the stick is faulty or if its another issue. FYI the last 4 systems I've built and bought more RAM to upgrade I've never ran into the issues listed above.

So I just install the new pair of ram sticks in the 2 empty slots and under normal conditions the pc will start normally with 16 gb ram instead of 8?

As long as you are installing memory of the same capacity, brand, speed, and chips in the two empty slots you should be just fine (as you state you are going to do). Only thing that could go bad is if one or both of the new sticks are defective.
