Hello,

This is my first attempt at building a gaming pc. My current one is way outdated and can no longer keep up haha. Rather than upgrade various parts, I decided its finally time to get a new one and do it myself. I have never done this before but I have always wanted to so I have a few concerns. Also, any tips would be great.

Concerns;

1. Form factor. I am just unsure when it comes to the hardware actually fitting the case.
2. Best performance for dollar. I understand that price isn't everything and that maybe I can save some money with some help from you all. :)
3. Its an investment, so it should perform well for more than a couple years.
4. Cooling and power. Is what I have in place so far sufficient?

I know I might sound silly, but I truly need some help, so any is greatly appreciated. Tell me where I am going wrong, could do better, and or can save some money but not compromise performance. Here is what I have so far.

UPDATE

Thanks for the responses everyone. I have updated the build to your recommendations. I guess I am going to go ahead and spend a little more haha! Thats definitely ok!

With this updated build I still have wonders as far as everything fitting right with the case. I have looked at the dimensions and it seems as if everything is cool, am I correct?

Here's the updated build.

- I would get the UD3 board for that price it's just a no brainer
- 550W are enough, the new CXM is a good unit, much better than the NEX you picked
- your cpu cooler would interfere with the RAM. added a better suited one.
- you don't need a dedicated sound card as the onboard chip is good
- all fits inside the case
- added a 1070

Just a kwiki !! Why do you need an ethernet card???? The motherboard has it built in! Rest of it seems ok. I would probably go for 32 GB memory to help future proof (But I am playing Cities Skylines a lot and with all the extras I have downloaded to run in the game, my 16 gb is almost used up!! Also get an SSD for your "C" drive!

But why do you need the NIC then? Doesn't seem like that is worth the extra money.

This is what I would suggest:
