So im just curious about some functions of the power supply. I want to know what the orange switch on the back of the power supply does. On my power supply it is switched up so the 115V is facing so im only guessing the if i were to switch it down it would be more. Would i damage my system by switching it up?

Solution
If you're in the USA, DON"T flip that switch.

The 115V and 230v switch is to allow the PSU to handle different voltages used in the USA vs. other countries. In the USA you want to keep it on 115V or you could very well destroy your PSU.

Most high-end PSUs have an automatic switching mechanism that handles this automatically, but on cheaper PSU's you will still have the manual switch. Unless you take your PC abroad don't touch it.

That switch is used to match the PSU to the inbound power connection (i.e. 115/120v vs. 220/230v). The setting used depends on the power standard for where you live. Setting incorrectly can damage system components....permanently.
