Best budget CPU for streaming, recording, and video editing?

Looking for a CPU to fit my needs, those being streaming and recording games while I play, and then editing the video afterwards. Either Intel or AMD works. And if it means anything, since I have a Nvidia GPU, I plan on using Shadowplay to both stream and record.

My list so far:

I left the motherboard out since some only take Intel or AMD, if you want to fill that in too, have at it, but it has to have 4 RAM slots! I already have 8GB (4x2GB sticks, weird, but effective) of RAM, I'll buy more down the road, as well as an HDD, but for now, this is all I need, minimizing the cost. Speaking of which, under $500 would be great, but I can stretch to $600. Any and all help is appreciated, thanks!

Best I could do...$20 over.

You'll probably need new DDR4 RAM when upgrading to this Intel Skylake chipset, so I added that as well. You could take a significant chunk out of the price by getting an i3 Skylake instead of an i5, but for rendering and video editing having the extra 2 cores of the i5 would be very helpful to speed up the process.

Sorry for taking so long, was looking to see what kind of RAM I have but I can't find anything. Either way, whether it's DDR3 or DDR4, I'm looking to upgrade to DDR4 2400/2133 when I have the money. And my budget would preferable be as close to $600 as I can get. What Luminary did looks great to get me on my feet, but if you or anybody else has their own personal preference or a definite upgrade for the same(ish) price, I'd love to see those too.

Glad it is close to what you're looking for.

Obviously the builds big put together are much better, but we all have to make allowances for cost.

Edit: Also, that's a perfectly good board if you're planning on upgrading to an unlocked 'k' model CPU in the future.

OOps was think the budget for just the motherboard and cpu was $500-$600. If you have DDR3 now and use it, when you upgrade to DDR4 you'll have to buy a new motherboard aswell. Here'a a build that's just a hair over $600

Oh, is that why it costs so much more? Well, about that, no plans to OC anytime in the future, so I guess I can shave off a few dollars there too.

Also, bignastyid, that looks really good as well, although I have to take the extra $20 hit for the QPACK3, it just looks too good to me. I'm getting a bit overwhelmed by all these builds though.

Well, as great as that sounds, the issue is that I have NO PC right now. My old one finally completely gave in after 4 years of not so nice treatment admittedly, but I've become so accustomed to having a computer, that even these last few weeks have been awful. I can't imagine almost 2 more months.

For your needs just get an i5 6400 a gigabyte motherboard between $50-70 micro at and just add those two things to your build and you should be set. I really don't like doing part picker posts anymore because you normally just see a wall of them. Your build looks fine though. I maybe would get a 1060 instead but the 1050 ti is great.

Sadly don't have a Microcenter near me, it's in another state... but I do feel like I'll just get my build now, and even if the prices do drop in the future, that just means when I decide to upgrade, it'll be cheaper then. As for now, my build is honestly on such a budget I'm sure future me wouldn't mind.
