Approximate Purchase Date: Within the next month.

Budget Range: 500-750 is what I'd like to stay in after rebates/shipping

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Looking to make it a home computer/be able to play all games at 1080 settings well. I recently starting playing palidens (or however you spell it) on my 2009 iMac and ended up sitting in front of the stupid thing for 6 hours (kept freezing every 5 minutes or so). Will be playing console titles with a controller as well as steam titles. Would love to get into vr in the future 6 months as well. This will be the first pc I've used in 6 years or so (just turned 24). I'd like to save money in all areas possible (open box from micro center/shopping around for rebates/cheaper case/hdd over ssd) but still spend enough on the parts like the cpu, mb, processor, etc to be able to future proof it and make the best machine for the buck.

Are you buying a monitor: Yes

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg/microcenter (have one local)/amazon/ebay

Location: Clarkston, Michigan, USA

Parts Preferences: by brand or type (e.g.: The only parts I'm sold on already is a new gen intel I series processor and either the rx or gtx gpus (although I'm a bit confused by the sheer volume of different models offered).

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe

Your Monitor Resolution: 1024x768, 1280x1024, 1440x900

Additional Comments: Function over form. Will look to save money by buying budget case/builders version of windows or similar/hdd over ssd to spend money on the cpu/gpu.

Include a list of any parts you have already selected with descriptively labeled links for parts. Please do not post only links.

Mother board choices (Would prefer one with wifi on the board as most of my stuff will be wifi-these are just some cheap choices I browsed. Kind of struggling to see the differences between the 1000 choices but will spend extra for a board that will last longer/have options for future use).

MSI H110M Pro-VD LGA 1151 mATX Intel Motherboard

GPUs

Between a 1050 ti/rx 470 or 480/1060. Would spring for the 1060 6gb if it really is worth the extra. Not sure which manufacturer to choose by PNY seems to be cheapest.

PSU

Corsair CX550M 550 Watt 80+ Bronze Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply
$55 after rebate

SO for the build on the cheapest components-$400(shaved priced)-$455+tax (may be able to shave off another $50 or so on cheaper case/ram sales/hdd sales/preowned on eBay)

Priciest=650(shaved price)-700 ($250 video card over 150/150 processor over 80/55 MB over 40). Same thing with shaving off $50 or so.

Mouse/keyboard

Monitor

ASUS VX228H 21.5" Full HD 1920x1080 1ms HDMI VGA Eye Care Gaming Monitor
$130
https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-VX228H-1920x1080-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B00FXOTJAA/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1478123506&sr=1-2&keywords=1ms+monitor

total 560-610 low end
810-860 high end
once again could probably do $40 saving by used on eBay for both
so
520(shaved in all categories)-570(shaved in just these 2)
770(shaved in all)-820 (shaved in these 2)

OS
either free linux/steam for the time being or windows 10 ($100)

so 520-570
770-820

save money by buying through penguin $35?

550-600ish
800-850ish
with windows 10

Any input is recommended as to what I should go with to stick around 600-700 total.

thanks for your time.

Put in 16GB of RAM, good SSD for OS and games, GTX 1060 6GB, great PSU from Seasonic, wi-fi card and a nice 23.6" monitor.
