I just got a new psu because my old one made a poping noise. I plugged the new psu up (only in the 24 pin), and it turned on fine and well. Then i pit a 6 pci cable in the cpu power and it turned on then right off. Now the only way itll turn om is if i unplugg the psu untill the mb light fades and then it will turn on for a sec. I dont know if i messed up my cpu or what. Can someone help?

If you indeed do this then you killed the motherboard VRM and maybe even the CPU. The other connection by the CPU is for the EPS wire, either a 4 pin, 8 pin or 4+4 pin connection. Plugging in the the PCI-e 6 pin connection put 12V into where 3.3V is supposed to go.

Sorry but you are now in need of replacing parts.

Polarities are different, connection pin shapes are different for a good reason, and you can't connect them without forcing them.. that should have been a deterrent from connecting them wrong...
