So I have a complicated internet setup and I'll try to describe it here.

(Fiber 1gbps connection) Modem -> Router -> Data port in wall -> Switch -> Ca5e coupler -> Dataport2 in another wall -> my PC

I used a laptop and tested it on the modem and the Switch, and I'm able to pull off 900 mbps without issue.

On my PC however, it is giving me a max of 100mbps which is not bad as far as speed is concerned, but certainly not what I am paying for. I checked that the cables are Cat5e and even swapped the testing cables with my PC. Still no joy.

Between the switch and Dataport2, there is a coupler used to connect the two Cat5e cables and if I swapped one out, or changed the couplers (I tried using a cat6), my speed goes to 10mbps. Switch has been swapped from a DGS-1008A to a DGS-105 , but still nothing.

People are suggesting my speed might be limited by the dataport (which makes no sense since dataport1 is fine) or that it could be the cables.
Also tried going to Device Manager and setting the linkspeed to 1gbps but that gives me no connection at all.

My PC motherboard is a P67 Sabertooth with i7-2600k and the laptop is a Toshiba R830

Solution
so when you plug your laptop into the port the PC uses you are also getting 100mb?

If not and you get 1000mb sounds like a duplex mismatch then set your PC to 1gb full duplex
It likely is some form of cable problem but your connection is so complex it will be hard to find. You need to plug your laptop into the cable that is going into dataport2 which should eliminate most the cables.

You need to look at the wall ports and make sure all the wires appear to be in the correct places and appear connected.

You might find the problem with a cheap tester but in many cases the wires will be connected well enough to indicate a connection but not well enough to pass data. The testers that can properly test and diagnose cable issues are way out of the price range for most people. All you can do is blindly cut and reterminate the wall jacks and maybe your ethernet cables. This is why you really need to test well with your lap top to reduce the amount of things you are blindly changing.
