Using RAM at it's full potential

My asus z170-a mobo can have memory overclocked to 3400. My ram sticks are 3000 but I know the mobo will downclock them to 2133. My question is will making the mobo run ram at 3000 do any harm since it doesn't really seem like overclocking as the mobo and ram are capable of this speed. Also, I plan on using the XMP in the BIOS, which is a quick way to OC the memory and slightly OC the cpu--any thoughts on this?

Solution
You should be able to just enable XMP profile and have no problems running it at 3000 but it might also take a bit of a overclock on the processor to get it 100% stable and/or adding a bit more voltage and manually setting them.
