I'm planning to get a Samsung 850 evo into my old computer(5 years old). I'm wondering will I have any issues hooking it up.

If I make it my boot up drive and reinstall windows(to clean out pc) later on will that wipe everything from it? Because, my computer came with windows 7 pre installed I don't have a disk.

Any help would be appreciated!

Microsoft has removed most links to Win7 .isos from DigitalRiver.

You may have a recovery partition on your current HDD and may only need a utility from the computer manufacturer to create discs from it. If not you may still be able to reinstall from this partition, so the logical thing to do would be to clone the HDD to the SSD using free Samsung Data Migration Software (rebranded Clonix). It doesn't properly correct the BCD store so things like hibernation and system restore will be broken but that's hardly an issue if you will be reinstalling.

After cloning and before reinstalling Windows, make sure to unplug the HDD! Windows setup is really stupid and may put the 100MB boot partition onto any drive, making it so if you unplug...
Get your windows key, here, google can be your friend. GOTO microsoft and find the win 7 download for your windows type. Not sure about the exact spot, you might have to do some looking, but that will give you an image file for media to boot/install from. Or, hook your new Samsung drive up to your computer, should just plug in, no worries about slave/master like in the old days, just plug the data and the power in and your computer should detect it, then download the samsung software, and from there you can clone your drive. If you take the original drive out, nothing will be deleted from your windows, if you clone the drive, nothing will be deleted from your windows, if you start fresh with the windows disk, you'll have to load all of your stuff back into windows. Before a transfer, I recommend backing anything up that you want/need to save.

After Windows is installed it will be safe to plug it back in but make sure to check the BIOS to ensure it boots from the new installation on the SSD.
