Bought a g290 vader computer case and says it fits a 162mm cpu cooler. Regrettably I bought a CPU cooler that's 166mm tall and finding out the size after the fact. They are in transit to be delivered but my question is whether there will be wiggle room for case fitment. And has anyone attempted to fix this problem before?

Solution
It's possible there will be 4 mm of space, but no guarantee. But do be cautioned, do not install it if you have to force it in. Exerting too much pressure on your processor like that can cause damage.

4mm... it is a really tough call. It doesn't bulge out at the sides at all, and the plastic window is mounted on the inside... It really might not fit.

If the case has a real nice CPU cut out doing the swap after the fact wouldn't be too big of a deal.
If the CPU cut out doesn't show the entire backplate then you'd need to remove mobo to swap, which would be a pain.

It could also be, depending on the cooler, the FAN that is giving it that height. I have a Cryorig Ultimate and in order to reduce the height a solid 10-15mm all i had to do was go from their 140mm fan to a 120mm.

Its the v8 GTS cooler I have. Definitely want to insure no pressure on the CPU. Might remove the glass display and remount it on the external side on the computer case
Also to add- there seems to be a full size cutout on the back
