hello there,i do not know if i should go for the ps4 pro which is coming out this month or if i should upgrade my pc, i have about 500 dollars to spend , and i own a 4k tv(sony xbr65x850b) too , for pc im using a 2011 lcd model , i think its 720 p im not so sure about it , and these are my pc hardware and peripherals specs

I7 2600k
8gb ram(kingston's )
Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit
Direct x 11
Gpu: ati radeon hd 5450 4g
Hdd: 1tb
Psu:cooler master elite power 400 watts
Motherboard: ga z68ap d3(intel z68 chipset, supports LGA 1155 2nd generation intel)
Monitor: samsung 2043 sw plus(lcd monitor)
Mouse and keyboard( came along with the pc )
I saw there was usb 3.0 written behind my case
And hdmi dx 10.1 written on the motherboard
I am confused , should i get the ps4 pro since i have a 4k tv or should i upgrade my pc for about 500 dollars , i play fifa or fps games mainly ,but i also want to play games like witcher 3, gta 5 , doom, titanfall2 too , and i need a good hardware for it , i dont mind if its 1080 p , as long as it has 60 fps+ frame rate at medium or high settings , thank you for you help , i really appreciate it guys

Solution
Definitely upgrade the PC. Sony are not putting enough into the PS4 Pro/Neo to handle 4k. More like down sampled from 4k. The Xbox Scorpio with 6 TFLOP graphics power, (equivalent to 980 Ti), and 12+4 GB memory, will have true 4k capability, but it may very well be over $500, and isn't due until end of 2017.

With $500 you could easily get a GTX 1070, and a 500w PSU to handle it. Your 2600k is enough for a 1070.

^This is $45 under your budget too, which leaves enough to add another 8GB RAM. If you do though, try to match frequency and CAS timing.

Thanks for your response man, so is that enough for the pc? my dads friend built the pc i have in 2011 , he built it mainly for movies and office work, so 1070 and 500 watts ? And btw how can i check what ram do i have or what is the frequency of my ram? And can you suggest a good 1070 after market card? Thank you so much

My bad i just saw the links you gave, btw is my motherboard capable of having the new psu and gpu? Its an intel z68 chipset and supports lga 1155 2nd generation, its ga z68 ap d3, thanks again

RAM timings will be in your BIOS. In case you ever forget, your MB manual will show how to access the BIOS, and where to look for the memory timings (pdf version if you don't have the hard copy...http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_ga-z68ap-d3_e.pdf)

Hit Delete before the Windows logo screen while booting to access the BIOS. The memory timings will be shown in "Advanced Memory Settings" on the MB Intelligent Tweaker (M.I.T.), page of the BIOS, shown on page 33 of the pdf manual.

An easier way to see RAM frequency and timings is to download the free CPU-Z tool, and click on the Memory tab. Memory frequencies are always shown as half of what they are, for instance 800Mhz = 1600 Mhz actual RAM speed.

The RAM timings will be listed below the frequency. You mainly want to just try and match the CAS# Latency (CL) value. The reason you want to try to match DRAM Frequency and CAS, is your PC will default to the slowest RAM speed detected. In Frequency, the higher number is the faster speed. In CAS timings, the lower number is the faster speed, because it represents how many CPU cycles it takes for RAM and CPU to share data.

Your MB should handle the upgrades fine. You will get a slight bottleneck due to the older CPU, but nothing major. Plus you can OC it to 4GHz to help alleviate that some. You will need a better than stock cooler to do that though, and it requires applying thermal paste to conduct the heat properly. You'll want to read a guide on OCing first.

Easiest way to OC that CPU to 4GHz is just set the CPU Multiplier (CPU Clock Ratio) to 40. It will likely be able to do that with no voltage increase too. A decent cooler that's cheap is the CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO, which are often on sale for $25.

I see, thank you so much man, now i get it, i will check the frequency andcas of my ram first and once ive upgraded and cpu seems like it needs an.oc , i'll do that on the later part then, really appreciate the time you took to answer me thanks again

No problem, and keep in mind, if you OC the CPU, you'll need to stress test it to make sure your settings are stable. Best way to do that is with very demanding games. That CPU has been clocked way higher than 4GHz by many people though. 4GHz should be adequate, and actually more appropriate considering it's been in use a while.

I see, demanding games like the AAA titles right?
I see
Yeah i know a guy who plays tom clancy's grp who has i52500k and he clocked it until 4.3 Ghz , and hes been playing for like years too
I think 4Ghz should be fine for now , and maybe even few more years, if i see any new cpu's on sale i might get them maybe like next year or something, thanks again man
