I've got windows 10 on my TB hdd but I want to move it to the ssd I'm getting soon for that nice boot speed. Can I install the ssd, boot from the partition and have it install to the ssd? Alternatively my roomie just got a windows 10 flash drive. Is there a way I could find my product key and install Windows to my ssd using that key, then wipe the hdd?

You could clone drive and partitions needed for system or do a clean install (better option) on SSD. If W10 was activated on that MB, you don't need to enter product key again, just choose Skip during installation. It will activate on MS server as soon as you connect to internet which is a good idea to keep connected by wire during installation.
