So this first happened, and kept happening, whilst playing Fallout 3 (one of the DLC's). But has now also happened playing the normal game, and also whilst just browsing the internet without FO3 running at all.
First I'll hear a surge in the PC - it's clearly drawing more power for some reason, but I don't know what to - CPU, GPU etc. The screen then goes black (and monitor power light goes off). The monitor then comes back on, but the images are distorted and pixelated, with the PC unresponsive.
Upon restart it doesn't tell me an error has occurred etc, so there seem to be no reports.
Any ideas as to what might be causing this? I've never had this problem before.
