And really, this is the wrong time to buy into the AMD ecosystem for the CPU/motherboard.
An Intel i3 and relevant motherboard will give you better performance, for longer, with a viable upgrade path.

If you stick to AMD I suggest swapping to an 8 core and overclock. The motherboard supports upto the 8370 125W altho I wouldn't suggest pushing 4Ghz on the motherboard. Maybe 3.8Ghz. Also if you can afford it swap out the 460 for the better performing 1050.

I would not even consider overclocking on that board and a i3 6100 will beat the FX in 99% of all games.

It will be fine as the 8300 is just a 95W cpu. Long as he doesn't get near 4Ghz should be well under even the 125W CPU the motherboard is compatible with.

The FX-8300 if your overclocking a bit. Its more bang for the buck than the 6300.

The motherboard your buying is not even made to overclock it's just a cheap budget board
Example the simple i3 6100 beats every AMD processor in gaming even the 9590 that is clocked to 4.7.
