(fair warning, I don't know what I'm talking about, correct em at will)

Okay so I was trying to fix an broken 2TB Hard drove I have, and to do it I was going to boot into Ubuntu and use Gparted to see if the Partition maps were destroyed, er something. I was gonna try it this specific way because I fixed a hard drive with similar issues the same way.

I prepared the USB using roofus and a Ubuntu ISO I had laying around. But when I tried to live boot, it failed. It went to the purple screen with a keyboard and a little dude at the bottom, blacked out and then had a few strange purple/orange characters in the upper right-hand corner.
It's weird because when I remove the hard drive it boots just fine.

So I'm wondering how the hard drive could effect the live USB booting. And if I can fixit.
Thanks in advance!

Yes, I was booting into the USB stick. What I don't understand is why having another HDD plugged in would effect a USB boot that has nothing to do with it.

thx for the answer!
