About 3 or 4 months ago i had this issue where my rig's
screen would turn black in the middle of doing something.
The PC however would continue to run and, would not
respond to the power button being pressed or held down.
The only way to turn it off would be to manually switch off the
power to the psu. I do alot of heavy gaming so knowing how psus can get burn out from such use i thought that was problem. So I just ended buying new one that was the same as the old one.

Recently ive had the issue again but only this time more
frequent. Ive also noticed that the 4 pin connector for the
CPU power has been melted and blackened. The pins in the
CPU socket on the mobo have also been blackened.

At this moment I've replaced the surge protector i was plugged into, moved to a different wall socket, and cleaned out the psu. Ive also ran a stress test using Prime95 to see if it was an overheating issue with the CPU. I found that it performed within safe temps and that in fact the
motherboard was the only component running alittle too hot.

My system specs are as follows:
CPU: AMD FX 8320
GPU: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 980
MoBo: ASUS M5A 78L-M LX Plus
PSU: Thermal Take 650W Smart Series

This is my first time posting to these forums so sorry for any formating issue or what have you. Any help would be greatly appreciated and if you need any more information such as pictures please let me know.
