I'm buying a gaming laptop (instead of a desktop) and one of the few available is:

https://www.rentacenter.com/medias/GP26QE-8BG-msi-specs.pdf?context=bWFzdGVyfE1hbnVhbHN8MTk0OTE3fGFwcGxpY2F0aW9uL3BkZnxzeXMtbWFzdGVyL01hbnVhbHMvaGMyL2hjOC84Nzk2NDA1MTA0NjcwL0dQMjZRRS04QkdfbXNpX3NwZWNzLnBkZnw2ZTA3OTQ4M2YzMTdjZGQ4ZmE3MGRmY2ZiMzA1NTMwMjc2MDU2NjFiMjIzMTI0M2U4MjMxNjhmZDA0M2IxYTkx

and I'm not exactly a tech genius. How good is this for gaming? Can it run games like World of Warships and Warframe and War Thunder on Maximum at 40+ fps? If not, what would it run those games at?

It's a solid mid-range gaming laptop that will also be good for some video/photo editing.

It seems that they are selling a $1,000 laptop for $1,500. While that is par for course for a renting retail store it's just not making sense to me. WEll for one there is not any way I would pay $500 extra when I am supposed to be paying same as cash. Secondly EVERYWHERE on the internet this model has a SSD(128)GB) and a 1TB HDD. However they don't list a SSD in their spec sheet.

and

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834154249&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC-_-pla-_-Gaming+Laptops-_-N82E16834154249&gclid=CPSmxKSQk9ACFReSfgodJLIEoA&gclsrc=aw.ds are a couple of other places that carry that laptop.

Do you want to waste $500 for convenience and lose the SSD, which means you will lose more than $500? I think that's a very bad decision but that is only my opinion. The value is significantly reduced when that SSD is removed from the picture.

With the 950m only having 2GB of dedicated VRAM it's not really suited for today's more GPU heavy games. I'd recommend no less than 3GB and preferably 4 or more. BUT it will hold its own at 1920x1080p. Average FPS will be around 30 fps. You can see an example of that over here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPznmzrLzgI .It's not really that good of a video(No OSD from Affterburner or Fraps) but it does show in-game settings and some gameplay.

Thank you. Yeah, high will do. Maximum at 20 more fps than my current desktop at low (due to a good processor but a built in Intel HD graphics) will be just fine. That means I'll be able to play any of my steam games on high at good fps.

And youre not just upgrading that why? You could save up to $1200 by slapping a graphics card in there, and possibly a new power supply.

Could I add the SSD later? Or no?

It's a Dell Optiplex 390. It isn't upgradable. And I can't take my desktop where I'm going.

In that case, yeah youre kind of screwed.

If you want mobility, you COULD make a mini itx system, they kick a** and are still quite small.

Yes. The http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211983 is a budget friendly SSD solution.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA12K2KJ0786&cm_re=SSD_850_128GB-_-0D9-0009-000E2-_-Product is what I recommend.
