I am looking to make what will be most likely the final or second to final upgrade to my current system.

I currently have a EVGA GeForce GTX 660 2GB (02gp42662kr). Due to my smaller case size (Antec Sonata IV ATX Mid Tower Case) and older board (Asus P8P67-M PRO (REV 3.0) Micro ATX LGA1155 ) finding a compatible card was tricky but I believed I found one that just barely fits the Asus GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Dual Series. I plan on transferring this into my next build.

I am aware my current board only supports SLI 2.0 the existing card the 660 made use of 3.0 but it was always fairly powerful to me. I however need a bit more power.

The only question is whether I need to purchase anything additional. My current psu is the Antec EarthWatts Green 650W (ea650green) This PSU has a 6 and 2 cable which I had plugged the 6 portion into my current card's 6 pin socket with no issue. The new card however utilizes a 8 pin socket.

What I am curious about is whether a 6 pin to 8 pin connector such as PCIEX68ADAP will be enough or if there any other steps I need to take. Thanks for any and all help!

That PSU should have:

PCI-Express Connector
2 x 6+2-Pin

Your all set , insert one of the 6+2 PCIE cables into the card.

Card arrived today. Installed some finagling with the pci ie power pin cable.

Went to start computer which promptly restarted after 10 seconds and did nothing except spin the fans. No bios. no post.

Tried reinstalling old card but same issue. Looking for anything loose but nothing obvious.

A bit nervous board is damaged. Read about issues like this caused by this card after the fact. Anything I can try?

Yes. I installed it in the top pci e slot as I had before. Reinstalled the old card in it as well as it was in the same position.

Tried the next lower sli pci express slot. Nothing

For chuckles tried booting without any card. Same thing.

Not sure what the problem is.

Was about to try the CMOS suggestion but having issues getting to the jumpers and unable to remove battery.

24 pin connector appears solid same with 8 pin connector to board and all ram modules have been reseated.
