So yesterday I did some Fall cleaning on my pc. Just the basic dust it out and re cable manage. When I went to turn it back on, nothing happened. I did the basic, check the cables make sure everything is plugged in blah blah blah...... Nothing was working and after digging through many forums and answer pages I came across and page showing how to reset your BIOS/CMOS. After I did this and plugged everything back in, my PC was alive. Can anyone please explain why I needed to reset my BIOS and what I did that caused something like to happen. Was this my fault or just the PC being stupid?

Hello.

Did you unplug your computer from the AC line when you did your cleaning...? If not, then that is the issue. Changing wires and fiddling around while plugged might cause the BIOS to bug.

Also, did you use a brush or a vacuum cleaner? If you used a vacuum cleaner, the high speed of wind and dust might have created a static discharge, which bugged your BIOS.

Or...does your PC have a switch to detect if the door was opened? If yes, it may be the reason.

Usually, it will be a static discharge which will do this if it was unplugged and you did some wire management.
