Hello,

I was (and currently am) using a DDR2 1gb 300MHz stick.
Now I had bought a DDR2 2gb 800MHz stick Markvision brand, but after replacing new stick with old one PC won't boot.
Also, the 2nd RAM slot doesn't seem to work (beeps when I try using the old *working* 1gb RAM stick)

I tried the following:
1. Used single RAM in each diff. slot (only the 1gb RAM stick is working on slot 1. Gives me the beep sound on slot 2).
2. Reset CMOS (done via jumper and battery).
3. Used alcohol and a duster to make sure the RAM slots are clean.
4. Removed and installed back in video card and CPU.
5. Made sure the msconfig > Boot > settings > maximum memory option is unchecked.

Also I should mention that I don't have a working CD/floppy drive to update the BIOS (only have a working USB drive with the ROM file inside but I don't know how to do it that way).

Anything else I can do to troubleshoot ?

PS: My Motherboard is ASUS M2N-MX SE. CPU is AMD Athlon 64 x2 4000+. Windows 7 Professional 32bits SP1.

Thank you

Hi, I tried it out but still nothing. PC still turns on and doesn't boot.

I wonder if there's any way to update my BIOS but through the USB drive (CDROM not working and no floppy drive available).

Try updating or re installing your Bios. Sometimes older Bios create issues like these.
There is also a possibility the ram stick u have is not compatible with ur motherboard. try another brand.
