Hi, i want to get one of this two boards:

GIGABYTE 990X-GAMING SLI

or

GIGABYTE 990FXA-UD3 R5

or

ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0

The main things i'm interested are:

-proper windows 10 driver support
-overclocking above 4.6 Ghz (maybe i'm gonna get an FX83XX CPU in the future atm i have a FX4300)
-XMP profile support for RAM.
-decent vrm cooling.

Solution

I looked up both Gigabyte boards, one states 8+2 and one review states 10 phase. Could you link me the source that says one is 4+1?

You're buying a brand new AMD FX-83xx and 990FX motherboard for loads of money in 2016? That has to be one of the worse ways you could probably spend money on PC parts, because you aren't getting the performance you can get with that money in return.

Until AMD Zen for consumers arrives, Intel is really the only option for price/performance.

Because i have an FX4300 and i need to replace the mobo i was on, as for price ~90$. Also i said that i might get an FX83XX later down the line, not that i'm getting it now.

Ok, your choice. I would choose one of the Gigabyte boards. I think both are driven by 10 phase cooling, but the 990X Gaming SLI has better features for Audio and ethernet. Get the cheaper Gigabyte board if audio quality isn't that important.

Actually the 990X has a 4+1 power design, which unless they are quality VRM's isn't the best choice, and information on this board is scarce so i included it in case anyone had info on it, that one is the cheapest of the three though, that is true, feature wise its the best as well, but i don't want to trade stability and OC potential for features.

Edit: In the end i might go with the Asus.

Yeah the GIGABYTE 990FXA-UD3 R5 has an 8+2 power design as for the 990X gaming board i actually used the 970 Gaming for reference, i know its kind of wrong but i found a lot of reviews saying that the board also supports 220W TDP chips from the FX-9000 series, then mentioning that it has 11 phases power design, where its known for sure that its 125W TDP and supports at maximum the FX8370 cpu.

EDIT: looked it up and found one without heatsinks you where right its 11 VRM's dunno what the hell i saw with 4+1 last night, thank you very much for your help i'm definitely going for the Gigabyte gaming 990X board.

EDIT2: i was sort of right, its double 4+1 analogue power phase not reliable for overclocking, so i went with the Asus M5990FX-PRO R2
