Okay so my friend has gigabyte GA-H55M-S2 which i could get from him for a decent price and pair it with something like i7 860 or i5 750. But the question is could this board do any overclocking. Currently im running a8-7600 system and im kind of disapointed with its performance since it bottlenecks my HD 7850 in most of newer games even on low settings while gpu usage is 30-60%.

The first thing that stands out to me is that there is no heatsink on the MOSFETs on that board (light-black little chips next to the large dark-black chips to the left of and above the socket). This means that power delivery will be rather limited. Will it overclock at least a little bit? Probably. Will it struggle as soon as you try to increase voltage? Yes.

The GA-P55A-UD3 would be a better choice.

You're correct that it will OC, but what worries me is if the MOSFETs blow... If they do, you'd get 12V straight to the CPU and that would lead to a very bad day for the owner.

You'd be surprised how easy it is to blow them. Also there's the problem of people "upgrading" to AiO coolers for the CPU, resulting in reduced airflow around the socket which makes the problem worse.

I'm always cautious when it comes to this kind of stuff, I've seen a lot of people kill their CPUs by trying to overclock on a motherboard that's simply not ready for overclocking.
