It's a intel core i7 6700 processor, 8gb ddr4 2400 memory, with a nvidia GeForce gtx 970, is that good? I'm new to gaming desktops and I'm trying to get as many options as possible

Thanks

Depends on price, and whether it's new or used.

If it were a build from scratch, and the budget allowed for it, I'd say go with a GTX 1060. It costs only a little bit more than the 970, and has more VRAM and better performance. I'd also say go with 16GB RAM, and a self build would afford it.

Assembling parts you pick yourself is always best bang for buck on new PCs, and it's not hard to do. There are some good vids on how to do it too. Many people new to it are too afraid, but they don't realize the software and maintenance issues after getting the PC can be more complex than just assembling parts.
