I recently attempted to build a PC with the following specs:
i3 6300
ASRock Z170M
Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 8GB
Corsair CX430

After spending two to three hours obsessive-compulsively assembling a PC for the first time, the motherboard turned out to be DOA. That's what I get for buying a mobo with two stars on Newegg. But anyways, I have since been unable to decide on a new motherboard. I had initially wanted the Asus TUF Sabertooth Z170 S--But then I realized that I may not really need to spend $200 on a motherboard for an i3 build.

I would like to have a motherboard with a Z170 chipset, and my budget is between nothing whatsoever and $200. It would be helpful it wasn't ridiculously expensive, and if it didn't have a reputation for coming defective--just, you know, as a bonus.

Suggestions...?

Solution
Here are the issues...
1) Your CPU is NOT Overclockable
2) You have 8gb of RAM (Not sure if single or dual channel)
3) By the looks of your CPU, RAM, and PSU, you don't have the budget or need for a $200 motherboard, so a Z170 is a complete waste (Besides looks maybe)

So, Here is my recommendation: Something like this for $50 is a great mobo (https://pcpartpicker.com/product/rLs8TW/msi-motherboard-h110mgaming). If you want 4 ram slots, something like this for $70 is a great mobo (https://pcpartpicker.com/product/my4NnQ/gigabyte-motherboard-gab150mds3h).

Hope I helped you (and your wallet)!
