I was installing a new hard drive, and had partition issues(6TB) not letting me use all of the storage. So upon fixing this with windows 7 install disk. I was deleting partitions reinstall/create full use of the new drive.

However,
I had my external hard drive 5TB hooked up and on, and when I "deleted" each partition showing on the windows software install disc, I MUST have deleted my external drive as well.

I do not believe I formatted it. None of my computers will recognize it now. Wont even auto install drivers to operate.

Anyone have any ideas of what I did, or how to recover or undo this?

Under Disk Management, it shows the drive as 5TB unallocated and does not appear to be formatted.

Some recovery tools are format specific(exfat,fat32 blah blah)i got a scare once when it auto formatted the drive but no data was lost

To be on the extreme safe side,my standard way is to make a bit level copy of the drive. But those recovery tools should work,i would recommend running a few as each has it strengths

I just need to find a free partition recovery program.

Anyone know of any now a days?

Again, I only deleted the partition file (sole partition). Just need to recover that file, and all should be fine since no formatting occurred.

Data is File System: RAW

Ive heard a bit more about Recuva & Puran, but dont both recover via long scan, and require another device to transfer the found data too?
Ive heard of partition recovery software from looking back at similar forum post here from 2007 and 2010. All of the free software's mentioned back than are now no longer free. I read it took only few min to scan and recover the partition, allowing everything to work as normal.

These other options mentioned, take 24-48 hours, since we talking 5TB of data to scan completely, and more time to transfer it all.
Seems like a longer, harder way to resolve this issue.

None of these are specific to partition rebuilding or recovery. They are for data recovery. My data is now in RAW form and has no MRB/Partition which is need to form the files from scattered data.

Does anyone know a really good free or pay program that exist?
