Hello

im trying to overclock my ram as much as possible.. and anderstand the of general things with ram oc and have tried alot of different ram oc's. but i have some questions.

My ram comes With the timings 9-9-9-24-2T 1600mhz @ 1.5v

The ram also have a Corsair Dominator Airflow cooler above them to keep them nice and cool

tried alot of other settings incl 1800,1866,,2133 all with different timing and found the most stable are 1866 10-10-10-30-2T @ 1.65v i got these timings from looking at The sport XT's pdf http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/memory-ballistix-sport

And thougt maybe its the same chips just different heatspreader so maybe i can clock after those speeds? and sure enough everythings rock solid.. the 1.65 is just for safety measure..

but i noticed that when i increase the MHz my mb bios seems to self adjust all kinds of other timings with it like the Row refresh cycle time (tRFC) goes from 128 stock to 150 at 1866.. and something called ?? Refresh interval goes from 6250 to 7280. Theres some others but i cant remember them right now.. and its probably ok it does so..

All i wanted to check was if you guys would aprove of the overclock? and do you think im getting extra performance by doing so? i cant really decide? havent seen any direct performance increase :)

Also what benchmark is best for checking memory performance?

Solution
Yes, 1.65 is fine (it's also fine on Ivy and Sandy Bridge, had a 2500K I ran 32GB odf 2133 at 1.65, and on my Ivy (3570K i ran 32 of 2400 at 1.65) have sold bot rigs but they are still out there running

ive got a 4790k and read that high performance memory sometimes comes with 1.65v and that its the max safe ram volt for haswell/devils canyon.. am i wrong??

heck ive ran 1.8 for a long time once before nothing seemed to happen by that??

Yea ok its booting :) ill try it out!
and isnt devils canyon compatible with 1.65 memory??? and ive read sometimes high perf dd3 memory can even come with 1.8v needed from factory isnt this right??

Isnt 13thmonkey thinking of ivy bridge cpus?

and also what do you say to my last question? should i just let my board adjust those timings by it self? the tRFC is now at 171 as an example?
