I just put together a new system and when I connect the one and only hard drive it won't even post. I got in to the bios after disconnecting the hard drive and reset everything to defaults. Plugged the HD back in and it booted and I was able to get everything installed with multiple reboots. After turning it off for the night it won't boot again this morning. I will have to try the same thing again tonight but thought I would ask here if anyone else has ever had this problem. Here are all the components:

AMD FX-6300
MSI 970 Gaming Motherboard
Asus ROG STRIX RX470
Cooler Master GM G650 Power supply
2x4 Gig Ripjaws 12800 dual channel DDR3

Is it possible that the power supply is just to small?
Thanks

Hi there satkins,

My suggestion would be to back up the data stored on the drive, in case you have any.
Apart from that, it would be a really nice idea to attach the drive with both different SATA and power cables, to another SATA port.
Also, you can go to your MOBO's website and update all the drivers.

In case the issue persists, you can try booting with just a single RAM stick at a time. (attach to different ports as well)
Reseating all components would not hurt as well.

As for the PSU, it's strange that adding a drive, would cause similar PSU related issues.

Let me know how this goes,
