I am planning to upgrade my PC(5 years old), I am changing my CPU from fx-8150 to i3-6100. I have 2x4GB DDR3-1600 Corsair Vengance RAM. Currently I have a GPU HD 6870. I will be upgrade it later.

I use it for occasional gaming (Fifa, Arkham etc) and am a big data hoarder(10 TB currently). I work on Java and android development in Eclipse.

The best motherboard pick for your transition would be one from ASROCK's Combo G line.

The main reason is it will support your DDR3 while still allow you to replace them with DDR4 later (your DDR3 is likely 1.5 or 1.65V which will affect the long term stability since Skylake is designed for 1.2-1.35V DDR4).

Although, since the most commonly available board from the line is the H110M Combo-G which only features 4 SATA3 ports, that may not be the most optimal solution if you have more than 4 SATA devices.
