My computer shuts off after about 30 minutes to 1 hour. fans shut off, all buttons are unresponsive (including power button, I have to turn off the PSU to shut it down) but I can still hear a faint humming, indicating it is still on. After that, I have to wait at least a few hours before the fans kick on when I turn it on.

The computer is a couple of years old now and just recently got a new case in the past few months. The problem began on wednesday the 2nd

I think the motherboard is this or very similar (I lost the box, the manual was in it.) MSI - FM2-A85XA-G65

AMD A-10 5000 series apu
2 x 4gb DDR3 G-skill sniper series
1 seagate barracuda 250 gb HDD
1 WD 1TB HDD
no video card other than the integrated apu one
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
PSU Corsair bronze certified 500 watt

At first I thought it was overheating, but the area around the CPU (back of case, heatsinc, etc.) was a maximum of 105 degrees Fahrenheit. This led me to believe that is is probably a faulty PSU or motherboard.

Solution
a. Try replace the MB battery, CLEAR CMOS, set BIOS to default/ load default value.
b. Borrow PSU from your friend, use it on your system, if persist.
c. Replace thermal grease, check CPU cooler fans.
d. Turn on with 1 RAM only, play some game or bluray movie, if worked, turn with 2 RAM.
