Hello,

I bought a SanDisk SSD as a boot drive for my Windows 10 PC and it works most of the time.

When Windows goes into sleep mode, after a while it appears the SSD turns off. Then the PC reboots automatically and goes into BIOS.

From the BIOS I save and restart my configuration and often the SSD Boot Drive is not in Boot Drive options. It can take me about 2 at best to 4 times restarting the PC until the SSD is found in the boot list.

Is there a way for the SSD to not turn off or is it a hardware malfunction ?

Thank you

Welcome to the TH Community, @Zedrian!

I'd strongly recommend you try swapping the SATA cable and the SATA port where the SSD is connected to the motherboard and see if the problem would still persist afterwards. It might also be a good idea to reseat all the connections inside your PC and make sure there are no loose cables that could lead to faulty connectivity to the drive. Do you have the lasest BIOS version running on your PC's mobo? You can check this on the motherboard manufacturer's official website.
If you have access to another PC, you could also try checking the SSD's performance there as well.
Make sure you backup all important data from the system somewhere off-site before you proceed with the troubleshooting!
