I'm having trouble accessing my cameras via the DDNS connection. I receive a "failed to connect" message. I can access the cameras using the IP/Domain method, so my port forwarding must be set up correctly. Any common setup issues that would cause the DDNS to not work?

Solution
Something must update the DDNS server it has no idea when your ip changes. Either your router does it or some software does it.

Not sure what abilities the honeywell software has. It would have to have some way to know the ip changed and update the server. Their are a couple of common methods used by ddns software.
It depends how the ddns is getting it ip values set. The camera normally can't run any of the software to reset the values. If you are using the router then the router for some reason must not be seeing the IP change. This would be common if your router does not get the actual ip address and is behind a carrier nat.

Now if the DDNS resolves to the correct ip then I don't know. You generally can not test from inside your network to the external IP unless your router has a special feature that allows that.

So in the Honeywell software, when I set up the DDNS settings, I had assumed that it records the current IP Address; which may not be the case. So the update of the IP address must either happen somewhere in the DVR Software or on the router; is this what you are saying?
